Sony's new smartphones get the X factor and here's why you might fancy owning one

NEW: Sony is launching a new Xperia X series of devices

In a crowded market everyone is trying new things to convince consumers to buy their latest smartphones.

Sony however, has gone back to basics with its latest device focusing on the things it feels people really want from a phone.

The Japanese tech giant has a history of making excellent smartphones and the new X series looks set to carry on that tradition.

The new Xperia X and XA will launch later in the year and will feature quality design, extended battery life and a top-notch camera.

Both will be cheaper than Sony's flagship Xperia range although the firm is keen to point out these are not budget phones.

When they go on sale the phones will land in your hand with a new curved glass display within a rounded, continuous frame.

Sony says its designers have have used premium materials, texture and curvature for the most natural palm fit.

The Xperia X will also feature a market-leading camera and battery – two things that Sony believes consumers put top of their whish list when buying a new phone.

The camera on the Xperia X includes an all-new Predictive Hybrid Autofocus which has been developed in close collaboration with Sony’s αTM camera engineers.

This technology lets you choose your subject and then predicts its motion, so you can capture the action in perfect focus, free from blur.
