Galaxy A (2016) Owners Get Exclusive Themes from Samsung

When Samsung announced the Galaxy Alpha some time ago now, it marked the first time that Samsung was willing to experiment with different build materials in their devices. Fast forward to today and all of samsung’s premium lines, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note lines for instance, are all built from glass and metal. The Galaxy A line emerged to carry on the trend of premium builds for those not looking for the absolute best in specifications and software features. While more tailored toward emerging markets and those in the Far East, the Galaxy A line for 2016 launched a little while ago with new colors and upgrades under-the-hood. Now, Samsung is offering users of these devices something a little special.

For those using a Galaxy A3, A5, A7 or A9 from the 2016 range, they can get access to exclusive themes from Samsung’s Theme Store. For the most part, these are all similar themes with a different coat of paint on top, but it is nice to see Samsung offering a little something extra, as well as making good use of their theme store. The theme store was introduced to Samsung’s TouchWiz along with the launch of the Galaxy S6 last year and subsequent devices have been making good use of it throughout 2015. In fact, last year was a big year for those that weren’t fans of Samsung’s software in earlier devices, as they toned things down and made sure that the average user can easily use the new features by labelling things with text instead of potentially-confusing icons and such.

While these themes aren’t perhaps the most exciting things out there, it’s good that Samsung is offering such a thing. Sony have been offering up themes for their Xperia devices for a long, long time now, and they’re simply available in the Google Play Store. HTC took this route as well with the launch of the HTC One M8 a couple of years ago, so it’s clear that there’s a market for this sort of thing, and after all, Android is all about customizing things to your liking.
