Lenovo reveal its 2016 plans for Motorola

The Moto by Lenovo branding takes over from Motorola and Lenovo’s head of mobile Chen Xudong has revealed what’s in store for the year ahead.

Xudong said, in an interview with Tech Sina, that every Moto-branded phone in 2016, i.e. the flagships, will feature a fingerprint scanner. They’ll also have screens of at least 5-inches in size.

However, the Moto G and Moto E are to be killed off. Xudong revealed that all mid-range and budget phones will be merged with Lenovo’s lineup, leaving the Moto brand to high-end smartphones.

It looks like there will be no more than 15 smartphones released this year between the two brands. That’s still a sizeable number, so Lenovo should be able to cater for most tastes.
