Samsung Gear 360 smartphone-controlled camera lets you film your holidays and relive them in virtual reality
The camera can be controlled via app on your smartphone, which allows you to select how wide you want the frame, and choose whether you want to shoot still imagery or video.
The app also allows users to share their 360-degree photos and videos on social media sites, such as Facebook or YouTube, which now support these formats.
It also comes with a removable battery and a collapsible tripod that allows you to place the camera on a surface or hold it steadily as you move around.
The camera uses a standard 1.4mm screw, so it is also compatible with a wide range of existing tripods and accessories designed for standard cameras.
The Gear 360 is designed to be used alongside a Galaxy smartphone and a Gear VR headset, allowing people to create and watch their own 360-degree videos.
Once you have recorded your video, all you have to do is slip your smartphone into a Gear VR headset, and you'll be able to relive your experience in virtual reality.
"We think we’re in the era of consumers wanting to move towards 'see what I saw' rather than 'see what I did'," said Rory O’Neill, vice-president of brand at Samsung UK.
"We really believe that the ability to capture 360-degree content will change how you share memories ."
Samsung also used its press conference at Mobile World Congress to unveil its latest flagship smartphones - the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge .
