The boss of Tinder just dished out some pretty sterling advice.
There’s a certain type of Tinder profile picture likely to get you more matches – so get rid of that one posing with an axe/your mum.
Tinder CEO, Sean Rad, has revealed the kind of photo likely to make you a hit with fellow users.
And given that the app has matched more than 11 billion couples, it might be time to listen up.
He said: ‘The data shows this: When your photo expresses something about your interests — like a skier skiing — or something about your personality, you do better.’
Rad added: ‘You do better as in you get more matches. I always tell people to be yourself.’
If you select images which clearly display your interests – i.e. travel, sports, a pet, quantum physics, collecting stamps – you’re more likely to make meaningful connections with users who share or admire your passions.
He also gave a little advice about what you should avoid: ‘The model-y poses never work.’
‘Shots that display what you look like but the environment you live in, and your interests — they work,’ he said at the Advertising Week Europe in London.
He added that head shots were boring and group shots with friends are also a no go – as many users are too impatient to browse through and figure out which person in the photograph is actually looking for love/lust/to get their leg over.
So remove the crappy pictures, because they’re doing nothing for your love life.
