Smartphone flagship reveals from tech companies have started to roll out. However, the HTC M10 is still nowhere to be found. Now, renders of the device have been leaked online.
Samsung has already unveiled their new Galaxy S7 a few weeks ago, along with its competing LG G5. The HTC M10 still remained a mystery for fans all over the world.
HTC is reportedly planning to launch the M10 later than expected. The device, dubbed as HTC Perfume, will not be following the One M9, but instead it will be rebranded as HTC 10.
After several leaks and rumors regarding the device's specs, renders of the HTC M10 have been shown on VentureBeat. The images show the HTC M10 with a slim body and white casing.
All of the sides of the phone are shown in the leaked renders. The headphone jack is positioned at the top of the phone while the USB Type C port and external speakers are at the bottom. The camera protrusion is minimal at the rear end of the device.
Reliable leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer (@OnLeaks) has posted a screenshot(see below) of the device's About page on the settings tab. Instead of showing the name "M10," the device is simply named as HTC 10. The rebranding could be a huge step for the company as to appease those who were disappointed in their previous flagship phones.

OnLeaks has also posted several more photos of the HTC 10 along with a list of the prototype specs. The device is shown to have a fingerprint scanner, which would suggest that it could support Android Pay.
HTC 10 Rumored Specs
Display - 5.15-inch Quad HD Screen – The HTC 10 will offer a screen resolution of 1440 x 2560 which is good for flagship phones looking to up the ante. People who saw the device up close said that it could have been using an AMOLED screen which would help the battery life while bringing crisp and vivid colors.
Processor - Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC – the system-on-a-chip has been the choice of several flagships such as the Xiaomi Mi 5, the LG G5 and even the HP Elite X3. It would show that HTC is serious about their new flagship model as it competes with other tech giants such as with the Samsung Galaxy S7.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 in itself has several features that make it a favorable choice over the others. Qualcomm claims that its Kryo CPU has double the performance compared to its predecessor. It also the Qualcomm Hexagon 680 DSP that is claimed to improve the battery life and performance of the phone.
It is unclear yet whether the HTC 10 would use the 2.2GHz quad-core CPU of the 820 and if they would also be using the 64-bit variant. Since it’s a flagship device, HTC could choose the best option for the phone.
GPU - Since the phone would be using the Snapdragon 820 chipset, the GPU would obviously be the Qualcomm Adreno 530 GPU. The chipmaker claims that it can support up to OpenGL ES 3.1+ for the latest optimizations in the mobile 3D video games. Qualcomm also claims that the GPU performs 40 percent better than the Adreno 430.
The HTC 10 would also be able to playback H.264 (AVC) and H.265 (HEVC) videos even at 4K resolution. It's a good advantage to have considering that 4K videos are slowly increasing in number.
RAM - 4GB – The HTC 10 would have more than enough amount of RAM. This would help more in the multitasking capabilities of the phone and to run all the resource-heavy apps the user would like to use.
The 4GB RAM is becoming a standard for every flagship phone in the market. It's good to see HTC following the industry standard.
Storage - 32 GB – the internal storage is also up to the standards of flagships at 32 GB. Of course the actual available amount would be different because the operating system and other reloaded software would still take up space.
The HTC 10 would also feature microSD card expandability which means that users would have the option to increase their storage capacity. There have been no news regarding up to how much memory can be supported by the phone.
Camera - 12MP Ultra Pixel – The phone's camera would feature a 12-UltraPixel resolution camera with laser-assisted autofocus. The megapixels are not as high as the other flagship devices but HTC claims that their UltraPixel cameras have much larger pixels that would capture more light and data, translating into higher quality photos.
Software - Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow – The 2016 flagship of HTC would obviously run the latest Android version in order to keep up with the competition. Using the Marshmallow version would also benefit the phone with the latest security updates and patches for a more secured Android phone.
The version also has the Doze feature which would allow the user to save more battery life by hibernating apps that aren't really used that much. It also has a better integration with fingerprint scanners and the Android Pay contactless payment platform from Google (NASDAQ: GOOG)
Other Features - The HTC 10 will support the USB Type C, which is claimed to be faster than the previous microUSB ports on most Android phones. It would also allow the phone to charge faster especially with the Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 if it would support it.
The Snapdragon 820 chipset also boasts the X12 LTE modem, which would hopefully allow the HTC 10 to reach blazingly fast download speeds of up to 600 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 150 Mbps. Of course, it would also have NFC (Near Field Communications) support.
Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chipset also boasts the VIVE 802.11ac Wi-Fi capability which allows for better signal reception. It would also allow the phone to work on the 5 GHz band Wi-Fi waves.
HTC 10 Release Date
The HTC 10 is expected within May at the earliest. The reveal is expected soon as HTC has been starting to roll out teasers about the device with the hashtag #powerof10.
