iPhone 5s
Indian student Nikhil Bansal has won a case against Snapdeal after it refused to deliver an iPhone 5S that he purchased for Rs 68 ($1/50p).
Not only will Bansal get his hands on the iPhone 5S for the low low price of $1/50p, but the marketplace is being fined Rs 10,000 ($150/£100) for its refusal to deliver the handset.
Bansal saw an opportunity in 2014 when he spotted a 99.7% discount on the site and ordered the handset at the discounted price. For reference, the iPhone launched at Rs 53,500 ($803/£520) in 2013, and currently sells in the market for Rs 21,000 ($315/£205).
Snapdeal refused to honour the purchase, arguing that the price appeared because of a technical hitch.
Bansal filed a complaint in a consumer court after Snapdeal refused to deliver the handset. In 2015, the court asked Snapdeal to compensate Bansal for litigation expenses, and is now being fined an additional Rs 10,000 after challenging the decision, which has been upheld.
